Dry Needling

Dry needling is an invasive technique used by trained therapists globally. It has been proven to be effective in relieving muscular pain and stiffness by releasing the trigger points.

How does it Work?

Trigger points are hyperirritable and sensitive spots found in taut bands in our muscles. They are responsible for producing pain locally as well as referred pain to a distant spot. These are usually associated with chronic musculoskeletal disorders. Many people confuse dry needling with acupuncture. The fact is that both these treatment techniques, though seems similar, have different concepts. Acupuncture works for the purpose of altering the flow of energy in the body by working on fixed spots in the body, whereas dry needling focuses on easing the trigger points found in our muscles after a thorough examination.

How does it Benefit?

It helps in treating chronic conditions like myofascial pain syndrome; many shoulders, neck and back pain conditions and soft tissue problems like tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, shin splints to name a few.

Here, at AktivHealth, we have physiotherapists trained and experienced in this specific
technique who have been performing this technique with perfection and have helped a lot of
patients by alleviating pain and improving their quality of life. To carry out this procedure the therapist will perform a detailed assessment. On the basis of this assessment, they will decide the appropriate location of insertion, size, and thickness of the needle and the number of needles to be used.
